Heather Shea Gasser

Heather is a higher education administrator with a passion for social justice and activism. Her career in student affairs spans 15 years and five different campuses and experience in many different functional areas. Currently the assistant director of the RISE (Residential Initiative on the Study of the Environment) a living-learning community at Michigan State University and a doctoral student in the HALE (Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education) Program, Heather is a true student affairs generalist. Heather co-hosts the online web show and podcast “Student Affairs Live” on the Higher Ed Live network each month. Formerly the director of the Women's Center at the University of Idaho, Heather blogs for Feminists in Student Affairs and heathersheagasser.com and remains engaged with feminist leadership initiatives in higher education.
Professional involvement and leadership has been central to her career in student affairs and ACPA - College Student Educators International has been her professional home for over a decade. Currently serving as the Director of Membership Development on the ACPA Governing Board, Heather works to develop opportunities for member engagement and connection to networks for professional development. She has also served on two convention planning teams, and co-authored the Social Media Task Force report in 2010.
Personally, Heather is an avid runner (successfully completing two marathons and seven half-marathons) and prolific reader. On the side, she owns her own freelance graphic design business.
